The Congregation of Mother of Carmel was indeed founded on February 13, 1866, by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara and Fr. Leopold Beccaro in Koonammavu, Kerala, India. This congregation aimed to empower women through education and cater to their spiritual needs, marking a significant milestone in India's history. With over 7,000 members spread across 25 provinces and six regions globally, the Congregation of Mother of Carmel operates in various countries, including India, Africa, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Peru, Canada, Iraq, the UK, and the United States.
